Picking browser game: Picma square (Moonberry Studios)

picma.jpg
Picma square is a set of puzzles based on network to play as a cross between Picross and Minesweeper. Every gird numbers how many square colors are in that area, and his work is to fill the grid properly.

The grid of 3 x 3 and 5 x 5 small are quite simple, there are even more colors. Once you get to 10 x 10, however, that when it gets hard. Each completed puzzle will display an image and as Picross, is fun to see a load of writing in blocks suddenly turned into a real object.

You can also create their own puzzle, although you will need to create an account to do so. Also you will have to repay the money if you want to have access to each puzzle, although the majority of people will be able to obtain enough enjoyment of free puzzles.

Play Picma square on the site of Chronicles of Kaetheryan.

Kickstarter project: the children of freedom has Stealth and Paul Revere

photo-full.jpg

According to Lantana games, the children of freedom is a stealth-based, historical game centered around the misadventures of four young men. Headquartered in Boston during the end of the Colonial Era, the game apparently will have to work to free the families of these young upstarts.

I know that sounds a bit strange, but what makes the sound of everything as impressive to me is the fact that this focused on Boston indie title is being designed by, well, people of Boston. Too often you see people trying to inject a dose of the exotic in their creations by the inspiration of foreign territories. It is good to see the alternative from time to time.

While GameSetWatch has mentioned the game, I'll wave here a second time collect another round of support. From this moment on, games of Lantana is less than $2000 of his figure of fate more at Kickstarter and there are 50 days to go. If you think that sounds impressive game, why not drop pledge shortly in that direction?

Kickstarter page of the children of the freedom of those interested in the project can be checked here.

Olympus seems XZ-1 compact camera, but only in decent light

Have a compact camera with fast, professional style lenses to big time in the past year blowing was.

Olympus joined the fun but only recently. Yes, the company some models for simple and quick style with "produced - almost" г.г - apertures back in the early 2000s the chunky 4 Megapixel Olympus C - 4040, with its f/1.8 lens was one of our favorites at the time. But he has been late, its focus on mirrorless interchangeable lens, micro four thirds camera such as the PEN E PL2.

All this changes with the new 10-Megapixel Olympus XZ-1, a stylish small camera with a stunning attached lens: a 4 X zoom (28-112 mm equivalent) with a minimum illumination of f/1.8.

The lower the aperture number, the larger the opening in the lens, so that more light, the sensor to beat makes for better photos in dim conditions (theoretical). Camera of nerds already professional photographers know the importance of this - the most essential part of any camera bag - consider a f / 1.8 DSLR lens, but at the level of the consumer, it is a big step from the norm.

The f/1.8 is but a little different with compact cameras. You can only reach this aperture, when you drag the camera lens back to the widest focal length - create 28 mm in the case of the XZ-1 - and as the probe into a simple and quick so small, it is hard to get shallow depth of field blur background beautiful portrait photos.

There are other benefits to a fast aperture, however, not least of which is, disable this nasty Flash on your camera and crisp to capture crisp photos even in the dark. Some of the XZ-1 competitors such as the 10-megapixel Canon PowerShot S90 and Panasonic Lumix LX5, which boast both f/2 lenses are true low-light killers. You can click No matter how bleary-eyed you feel sharp photos of your pals in the pub. In fact, the LX5 liked it so much we named camera of the year 2010.

The XZ-1 used in addition to its fast lens, a larger than average imaging chip for a simple and fast: a 1/1.63-inch 10 MP CCD, the the same size as our favorite LX5. With this one-two punch, plus a number of interesting features packed in a sleek, attractive camera body the XZ-1 should quite the little sniper, right? Well, Yes and no.

Although the all-black XZ-1 I have tested (it comes also in white) is similar to some competing cameras in this category, there are a few differences. On the one hand, the iZuiko brand is f / 1.8 lens not fully in the body like the lens on the S90, so withdraw the camera over an inch thicker than the PowerShot at its widest point.

This was not such a big deal – it's still pretty thin – to annoy me but what the dangling lens cap was. If you choose to use the CAP, you must bind hole with the supplied line on the collar or it will fall off when the camera expands its lens during spin up. Mounting the strap and the camera cord into this hole but good luck. It is a struggle. On the other hand, if you decide to do without the CAP, which the above lens has received too smudged a tendency.

Also, the tiny buttons and excessive Spartan layout on the back of the camera are disappointing. Because the XZ-1 allegedly photographers is aimed at may know their way around f-stops and shutter speeds, is, why it is not key to the camera for ISO, white balance, or other important creative features? Yes, you can on some of these with the control ring around the lens on the front of the camera, but there is an additional step, which will slow you down.

And while the 3-inch OLED screen with a 610, 000-dot resolution to back of the XZ-1 sweet is, the camera menu system is overloaded and intuitive. The napkin size quick start guide was also not much help in the sense of the settings and menus. If you want to do a deep dive on the XZ-1 functions, you need to pop in a CD-R, display the full user manual. Not convenient.

The good news is that if you find anything on the XZ-1 it hums like a well-oiled machine. The camera uses Olympus' TruePic V processor and powers up and is ready to photograph in one and a half second. Shutter lag is almost non existent in good light and little in low light. I liked the red one-touch video button on the back of the camera under the mode dial, which immediately the camera is roles in its 720 p, 30 fps HD video mode.

Salary Office wars weapons with this work

Here at Wired, we are very serious about things. Correction - we take to protect our desks and planning sneak attacks on our employees very seriously. We provide Office warfare gadgets to the test.

Thunder USB missile launcher
First, the USB-Thunder rocket launcher ($36) was on our list. Download the free controller software, close the main program to your Windows laptop or PC via USB (a Mac update is in progress), and use your mouse or arrow keys aim and shoot.

Because the Launcher contains a webcam, ballistics are a trial and error affair. But it is surprisingly easy - my first shot his four foam sent a rocket directly in my head shoulder. Oops! The sound effects are funny, but they give your victims a heads up, that they were under siege they pay attention. Four foam missiles are included, and the area is up to 25 meters. Perfect for the protection of your desktop or surprising an employee of the Office.

Moon Blaster rifle
Next is the Moon Blaster rifle, a 19-inch tube, gun that uses pressure on pop glow-in-the-dark, ping-pong-like balls across the room air. Prices direct from glow universe starting from $12.50 at Amazon or $65 for 10 weapons.

The Moon Blaster small, ammunition was a little difficult roles, looking after a round of the battle, but the lighting may disable more luck spotting them you as they are in the dark light. It takes definitely a few powerful pumps to build enough pressure, but after that the balls in rapid fire from shot. The cheapest of the group, and it was definitely like it. But it's still a fun and effective weapon.

Zing Z curve bow
Zing Z curve bow provided probably the most powerful punch in our arsenal. The foam arrows are surprisingly strong, and they can fly up to 100 meters and with a revenge strike. It is also easy to use - after a few shots in practice, we have some deadly accuracy to achieve.

This weapon is great for Ninja-style guerrilla warfare because it is quiet and has a relatively narrow profile. It comes with two foam "back arrows and a"Zartz"suction cup blades arrow bounce". You should probably to a pack of extra arrows, so you must not constantly retrieve it after only a few shots. The sets start at $18 on Amazon.

N strike Stampede ECS
No Office battle could be completed without Nerf latest and greatest, the N-strike Stampede ECS. You can not help but feel like a badass, if you are wielding this monster. Priced at $50, it's Nerf's first Blaster with a fully automatic clip system. A big squeeze, and you can your office mates with a non-stop assault of pink foam darts ambush.

Stampede ECS includes the N-strike three 18-DART clips and a 6 DART clip for a total of 60 laps. She go by the darts surprisingly fast hold down the trigger you so that I at the end of duct-taping two clips slow reload end for that. An optional handle the weapon for additional stability, slides on the front with pop bipod below removable blast shield to protect your face (but only if you keep your face inches from the Blaster body) slides on the top.

It is bright yellow and orange, and a loud racket, can it off while you are unloaded on the henchmen of marketing, so you gain no points for stealth. But at least the Nerf neon darts are quite easy to see under debris makes cable and desk. It is powered by six D batteries, which are not included.

Slim Fast: Apple iPad 2 does the race

Everyone wants that IOS 2 had an ad of higher resolution as the iPhone 4, but Apple not even there go.

All Apple was put the iPad on a treadmill. The tray shed weight and won some speed, the 2 to be iPad, and it is amazing what a difference that makes. It feels like a brand new product.

Most importantly, this is iPad 2 slimming. The iPad 2 is 0.34 inch thick, about 33 percent thinner than its predecessor. Reach to remove your finger across the screen and tap is much easier than it was iPad to the chunkier 1 now.

People who will enjoy reading love thinner body: an iPad weighs 2 in your hands for an hour not the cumbersome feel. You will be also surprised how often you want to use the tablet with one hand. Even if only a few grams feel lighter than the older iPad (1.3 pounds compared to 1.5 pounds), the changes to the trays weight and ergonomics important.

The iPad 2 is only slightly thicker than a pencil.

The tablets imagine such as significant thin and weight for people, for use in a profession that requires much move, how are doctors who could use the iPad to a stack of X-rays, replace architects relying on an iPad as an interactive ad for blueprints, or students use the textbook, Secretary and daily planner IOS as all-in one. The thinner and lighter Gets a tablet, is more useful for different types of customers.

As a standalone device 2 are not iPad the soft keys still ideal for writing compared to a physical keyboard. But seems this problem in the course of time erosion will hold like the slender profile the device already with one hand and pick away relieved on keys with the other.

Apple's smart cover protective accessories (sold separately for $40-$70) is also a cover, the folds create an angle to prop up the device so that you can type more comfortably on it. The built-in magnets on the side of the iPad to brackets, are very cool and make it extremely easy to take off the cover or set. Personally I prefer the most gadgets bareback, but the smart cover is the only cover that, I think that with the iPad 2 check because it is so easy to take it off.

The other important change is speed. Apple claims that the new A5 processor in that iPad 2 double the performance of the original iPad offers. In fact, applications and Web pages load faster, and 3 d games look more detailed; the entire experience of iOS is just buttery smooth.

Web performance is largely, thanks to iOS 4.3, improves the latest software update shipping with the IOS 2, which includes an improved JavaScript rendering engine for Safari. The iPad 2 took 2,180 milliseconds to complete a SunSpider benchmark tests during the iPad 1 3,353 milliseconds. Run the earlier iOS 4.2, took over the iPad 1 8,100 milliseconds, complete the same test. This means that JavaScript-heavy much faster to run Web sites (e.g. Google mail).

Despite the large speed boost the iPad retains 2 surprisingly, a 10-hour battery life, the slower, first-Gen IOS identical.

Nintendo 3ds review: It is totally in your face

What is about 3-d, so attractive?

A while back I saw two landmark 3D movies in the same six month period: avatar and the revival of Captain EO at Disneyland. Been the latter a 1986 Michael Jackson flick, used 3D in style and ham-handed ridiculous way it always used: asteroid flew into the seats. Evil Monster came their claws and Spears in the face. Cue shrieks and laughter from the audience.

For a film so closely with the current 3-d boom identified James Cameron's avatar never tried any of these tricks. I quickly forgot I was just a "3 d film." The depth, that extra sensation is things removed, more had subtle effect of making all of seem real to the touch. The 3-d technology was the medium, not the message.

The Nintendo 3ds is at its best when it doesnt avatar, Captain EO. Games that make players go through the innovative glasses free 3-d gaga display are good and beautiful. But it is the way, making the small screen 3D effects to any 3ds game look a little animated diorama in a shoebox, which impressed me the most. Something about the third dimension brings games to life.

The $250 3ds, already available in Japan and coming stateside March 27, is a device with the weight of the world on your Sockets. Nintendo has uninterrupted dominance enjoyed in the handheld gaming space, as it practically, that space with game boy, created in 1989. This is now under the onslaught of Apple's suite to touch phones and tablets, which play an increasingly pleasant library of games for significantly lower prices.

Nintendo's proposal is staunchly conservative and wild once again typical Nintendo - innovative alike. On the one hand, it stresses $40 retail games about cheap downloads, and the company says it will not try indie "garage game" to attract developers. On the other hand, it has positive skipped the competition through the use of a glasses free 3-d display, in the same way that the original Nintendo DS led the way with its touch interface.

Like other writers on already elaborated who 3-d screen much better right is of the "volume" slider. You can the 3-d top square on your eyeballs to crank, quite, if you want to enjoy the full range of depth of field effects, but to view them, you keep fairly close the 3ds at your face, must.

This is the taxation not nearly so as it sounds - I played it at last with the machine only the position and never feel tired. But if you want you can use the 3-d, victims below the full force of his power for a more relaxed viewing angle crank.

ThinkPad proves big things in small packages come

Ultralights are not for everyone, but with the ThinkPad X 220, Lenovo does be sure best to make the case, they can be.

This latest version of its super slim executive standby is ThinkPad do everything he can at best. Still incredibly portable - at 3.3 pounds despite the Stie?-Up 12, 1-inch, 1366 x 768 pixel display-Lenovo packs in everything, what a traveller Professional (or just about anyone else) is likely to need to.

The heart is a new core i5 Sandy Bridge processor that upends the mediocre performance we expect in General from an ultralight. Benchmarks trounce just about everything, we have - tested of late save for a few recent vintage high-end-machines - and they completely blow historical ultralight benchmarks out of the water, hit the most machines with the last generation chip from 30 to 40 percent.

What is more remarkable is that the chips to integrated graphics aggravated gave us a solid gaming experience on the computer with performance usually discrete GPU would get clocking at or about what with a low end. Much has been said about the joys of the Sandy Bridge already, of course, but see that it for a good cause in such is a compact machine almost beyond words.

Beyond the i5, the machine information is entirely up to code: 4 GB RAM, 320 GB hard drive, SD and ExpressCard slots and three USB ports (a fee). There is no HDMI port and no optical drive, there is a DisplayPort-socket, so your wiring plan accordingly. The keyboard is outstanding and typical of the ThinkPad brand. Audio is not particularly inspiring, but it's good enough for a machine of this stature.

Lenovo trumpets the X 220 better than average service life of the battery, but in our testing hit it only 4: 53 with the six cell battery. Little epic, but that's still good. There are a few battery options such as upgrades, you want your time lines.

I reserve one complaint for which X is 220 and that the touchpad design. The structured surface is pleasant to the touch, but Lenovo has refused separate buttons to maximize the size of the touch pad in a very narrow range. At the bottom of the touch pad wraps around the end of the wrist support, and then click the corners of the pad press. Unfortunately, anything goes with the engineering this: the pad misses clicks all the time, and it makes the cursor bad stuttering if you (subconsciously or not) are calm a thumb on the pad how to prepare on click. Good idea, but the execution is not.

At $1,300 it is certainly at the top of the price of modern laptops, although it is obscenely expensive. We have seen higher price tags for bulky machines not close like this come on performance.

WIRED Insane battery life flirts with for five hours. Blazing performance exceeds your kid's gaming laptop. Superlight, but solid. MilSpec tested (if also still not certified).

Tired Half-baked touchpad design. Please, Lenovo, Exchange a fn and CTRL buttons please for once.

Pimp of your RAID: Popdrive's two hard drives desktop backup

Two backups are better than one. It is the only principle, the geeks close than follow the Prime Directive.

Back up your data on a drive, and make a backup of a backup voila, the second drive in an exact duplicate of the first. In IT parlance referred to as a redundant backup, and the most popular system for dealing with it is RAID or redundant array of independent disks.

The Popdrive DHK outsourcing plans, one of the first low-cost, consumer level RAID drives to be. It comes packaged with two separately, Western Digital 2.5 inch hard drives, such as those in laptops. The package with two 500 GB hard drives will cost you $250, for two 750 GB drives, you'll pay $350.

You get a USB 2.0 cable and an eSATA cable. The drives which in two retractable slots on the aluminium housings are Popdrive pop, hot swap, if you use the eSATA cable, but not when used USB. Unfortunately, most computers today have not the faster eSATA ports, but for those who do, the throughput is fast - you get 3 GB / s eSATA versus 480 Mbit / second1 USB 2.0.

While the idea for the Popdrive is easy, if he is not. In fact, is the Popdrive establish stuck as on night at the airport in a Blizzard. Also from the DHK storage, the process entry leads a leisurely 10 to 15 hours. It took 12, especially during the drives mirrored and for the first time with that includes each other, enigmatic SteelVine Manager software checks. The virgin discs had to then format and partitioning are; an other user assistance exercise, but this time with native Windows or Mac utilities. Fortunately the illustrated step-by-step manual on the installation CD me through the process led, but I kept me why a product aimed, consumers with pontificating loaded would come ' mumbo jumbo. As furniture from IKEA should read the package "-Assembly required."

But once this agonizingly slow exercise is complete, the Popdrive is ready to rock ' n ' roll. To avoid confusion, it establishes Popdrive with only a drive letter. We provide only on a drive, as well as always, the second drive is only a slave of the first.

With the price of external hard drives drives in the range of 500-750 GB now below $100, what's the big deal about the Popdrive, that about three times as much costs? For one thing, while external hard drives are cheap, they offer no security or malfunction if they crash. You are not yet that "Fail Safe" backup links. The Popdrive contains always a second, accurate double drive. And if a drive dies, you can easily stick in another by popping open the door. The Popdrive accepts almost all 2, 2.5 inch hard drive, whether new or one of your notebook.

The real cost of Popdrive is those who takes it, the effort to get it up and running. Past offers the peace of mind that backing up your data has a just-in case twin.

WIRED At the same time secure portable consumer versions of IT-style RAID drive with a set of two disks, one of the other. Aluminum construction is light - about a pound - but robust. Work with either USB or eSATA, both cable included.

Tired Spending half a day set up with a dull utility trying your patience. You can create your own for cheaper you create have the smarts.

Speed bump: Samsung Galaxy telephone calls increased, 4 G

It's official: 2011 is the year incremental progress. Mobile phones in a Groove feature at a time established have and their way to the top in speed, performance and features are now gently pushed.
If we, at least into a climate of baby steps, Samsung Galaxy S 4 G is an example of baby steps done right.
From the moment I have trusted my gloves on the S, 4 G, felt something weird. I had seen many of its elements above - the unsettlingly light chassis, the glass and faux chrome accents and even the flashless 5 MP camera. It turns out, was fully justified the feeling of déjà vu.
The S 4 G is essentially a mildly tweaked Samsung living with a few extra goodies. For those keeping score, a set of living perfectly easy maintenance functions (1 GHz processor, 15.4-inch 800 x 480 AMOLED screen, 720 p video recording) are back.
So, what's new? Android 2.2, for starters. How the phone awkward moniker has, the handset also brings certain T-Mobile brand of the 4 g (HSPA +) in the womb.
Honestly I did not expect the gradual development of this next-generation data network too much, but the difference was immediately noticeable. Heavy beat image rich sites such as (ahem) wired.com with loaded almost without hesitation, and large file downloads of dropbox rains produced nary a stuttering.
Conversion of the phone in a hot spot was also one of the more useful data centric features, although the option is strange buried within the menu structure. Samsung TouchWiz user interface was never particularly attractive, and this is a further nail in the coffin.
But is a further addition to the S 4 G's for front-facing VGA camera. Although it is perfectly ready for video conferencing, I was a little underwhelmed by the options on the app. The service set up and launch is easy to want enough thanks to a preloaded Qik app, but the occasional stuttering and noticeable delay left left a lot.
Lack of Polish aside, I can not really the VGA camera in terms of functionality guilt. I could make and to receive video calls just fine. She like only fireside chats with Max Headroom.

You add other goodies offered a copy of the foundation of Samsung's Media Center storefront. I am usually prone to tools like this completely ignore, but watching the movie on the S covered 4 G some interesting tidbits. The intelligent combination a workhorse battery and a display of power sipping car of the film powerful 2 hours 28 minutes run time only slightly the Galaxy gas tank.
The film I finished noticed, that only 20 percent of the batteries had run out. It is doubtful that I would me ever in the an o four peat display the founding force, but it's good to know that Samsung realistic displays the S 4 G as an entertainment device.
If we learned anything last year, it is that incremental improvements are incredibly simple, flub. In our ongoing gripes with the S not we give 4 G phone to much guff.
Samsung managed to transform an already well equipped blueprint in an even stronger candidate. Sure, it is not the most outdated quad-core animal of our dreams. But even incremental progress Bizone as progress.
WIRED More iteration a solid design. Usually smooth navigation thanks to a buzzing 1-GHz processor. Great call quality. Awesome battery life and power management. Gorgeous HD 720 p video (in bright environments). For downloads and app-tion with one contain 16 GB memory card (expandable to up to 32 GB).
Tired Access to the film storefront requires a tedious login process. Bloatware galore. Where is my HDMI output? HSPA + service is fantastic fast (if available). 4 G, 3 g, EDGE transfer are often slow. White backgrounds often create the dreaded "screen-door effect." Froyo is already old hat - type gingerbread!

The Chevrolet Cruze eco will keep you happy at the pump and behind the wheel

Chevrolet has positioned the Cruze as a small car that because it is a good car, do not go, because it is the only one you can afford. The same philosophy applies to the ECO, the Cruze more fuel-efficient siblings, and it makes for a stylish, engaging car, which only happened pretty good on gas.
Based for the Cruze eco Chevy to a batch aerodynamic trickery and weight loss recipes cooked on the Volt. If the Volt design a man on the Moon was, the Cruze eco is Tang and a pen that writes on the head.
GM engineers developed, for example, a lock, the drag of closure from reduced lower grille at high speed. Along with panels on the floor, some closed openings at the top of the grille, spoiler and a ride-lowering sports suspension, the changes reduce drag ten percent and improve immensely on the basis of Cruze sees.
With a stick shift it weighs 3,009 pounds, a saving of 214 pounds over a standard Cruze without the eco package. Sheet metal reduced 1 mm thickness in parts, while weld flanges between 1 and 2 mm in length have been reduced. The wheel and tyre choices an additional 21.2 pounds saved. Sure, we take light 17-inch alloys - for the environment, of course.
I was suffered by the miserable Monza to the comatose cobalt by every Chevy compact, less than optimistic while picking up the keys, "Saves" sound suspiciously like "Cost Cutting." After a pleasant week in a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze eco recognized I that I could have been no longer wrong.
The automatic Cruze eco came for testing only as over $3.50 per gallon approached gas. Even with foot heavier than most succeeded 32.6 mpg over 500 miles in the mix of stop-and-go, suburban, and highway traffic - close to the EPA estimate of 26 city and 37 highway. Enjoy more miles from the manual, which is city and highway 42 in 28.
It was not only the fuel consumption of me, but impressed.
On the road, despite the weight saving is the Cruze it is held together by electromagnetic force. Handling is solid and steering is precise, if a bit deaf for spirited driving. On paper 138 horses may seem tame, but the Cruze doles it out can match dangers with enthusiasm in a way that no hybrid I have.
In curves, there is little lean or body roll, and the Cruze makes fast and entertaining work of Onramps and highway sweepers alike. On straight engines of the Cruze effortlessly together 80, also in strong Crosswinds. About this car inspired confidence, and nothing about it feels like a soulless appliance.

The interiors are comfortable for the eyes and fingertips. A padded, two-coloured dash ensconces series of well-placed controls, and a leather wrapped steering wheel with cruise control, stereo and phone buttons. All buttons and switches move with a satisfactory amount of feedback that the car costs refute, and even the cloth were comfortable after hours ride seats. Trunk space is first class and the rear seats fold down.
The most leading-edge technology is characterised OnStar, Bluetooth and XM, plus USB and aux-in sockets on the outside of the car, although our testers. It was also with audio Facebook, equipped the OnStar to read and enter status updates with a minimum of distraction is used. I would see a little more use in a service which converts you access to Twitter, E-mail or text - or a, the speech to text for status updates - but it is a good start.
What is not, how? Well, the test car awhile to move, from the first gear and the 1.4-liter turbo engine took a small bit of lag in difficult maneuver are passed during the highway appear.
It would be nice, a cover for the center console Cup holders, have accumulated the spare change instead of Lattes. The space above the dashboard can not anything that could be damaged by heat from the Sun, and the rear seats keep higher than 5′11″ would be tight for everyone.
The Volt can be forgiven for the spotlight in the Chevrolet lineup hogging. Finally, it is a technological tour de force, which redefined the car in less than five years of development. It is however not to a volume seller.
This will hopefully include coat, the Cruze - a spirited, solid car that is as fun to drive as painless to fill.
WIRED Teachings on the Volt leaked after the Cruze. Chevy proves that high-tech and high-mileage hybrid means not. You can get a manual with a Turbo.
Tired Other cars in the same class sell for a slightly lower MSRP. Turbo hole. "Eco" trimming level sounds cheap, but it is better looking and better than the base model.

The party with this crazy Cubular boombox must unbox

Pop Quiz: how to find the volume of a cube?
If you said "the length of a page with multiply twice, duh!" You are technically correct, but also wrong.
With TDK's 10-inch-by-10-inch-by-10-inch sound cube, here is the answer: find the slider that goes to 11.
This is no joke. This boombox volume maxes out at 11 (Yes, a reference to this is spinal tap). But all kidding aside, this elegant speaker cube provides some serious sound.
It is not only that the two 5, 25-inch coaxial driver really crank. Or, that it razor sharp quality and separation. Or, that the bass gets impressively aggressive. What does the cube really well, is: to fill a room.
There are four cones, one on each side. Two of them are active drivers and the other two are passive reflectors. Moved with sound in any direction, you never need worry about repositioning of the speaker to improve the audio.
This is not to say, that you are moving this thing won't. On the AC power supply, it runs also on D batteries. We rocked the cube inside and outside. It is not just featherweight (16.6 pounds with batteries), but the comfortable leather handle made it just too dead. There are other small details and little touches that a cube this winner: click the volume control, turning it just like the 70's and 80's Hi-Fi equipment.
Aesthetics aside, the sound cube has more ports than the Riviera: USB (for USB sticks or iPods and iPhones), 3.5 mm audio jack, and an auxiliary audio jack - you - wait for an instrument ?-inch cable. That's right: the cube can be used also as a small, portable amp. TDK's granted "11″ not exactly our eardrum with 20 Watts of total power, shredding, but hey: do the math MultiUse + portable + excellent three invoices =:) ="
WIRED Loads devices connected via USB (even if it runs on batteries). Solid battery life: we rocked for a whole weekend, including a 4-hour party, and are still going strong. Top rubberized keeps your connected iPhone from slipping in transit. Matt black shell prevents that fingerprints. Simple navigation + easy to fit you digital equalizer. Surprisingly decent AM FM reception. 3.5 mm and 30-pin iPod-iPhone cable included.
Tired Requires 12 D batteries (12!) for portable game. Weak mix between instrument and other sources (for example, cube is great as an amp, but not as a karaoke box). No remote control. Battery cover screws can be removed without a coin or screwdriver. Ports located below: If you move the cube, cable often caught under.
